For Dunedin against Carisbrook, Wilkie got seven wickets for 11 runs, while four no-balls were placed against his name. Henderson, for Grange against Carisbrook 8., went one better by bagging nine wickets for 10 runs. Against Albion, Webb, for Opoho, sent six men to the right-about for nine runs. Dawes, for Albion, was credited in one innings with four for 14, and Smith, for Carisbrook 8., with seven for 36. Of the New Zealand representatives, Fisher signally failed with the bat, his contributions for Carisbrook A. being 2 and 0. Baker, for Grange against Carisbrook 8., did little in his first innings, but made amends later on by giving an aggressive display for 48. .The London Sportsman of the 15th December states that Pooley, the famous Surrey wicketkeeper of bygone days, and who visited Wellington with Shaw's combination in 1877, was" admitted on the 14th December to the Renfrew-road (South London) Workhouse. On the old man being brought before the guardians in the ordinary course, the Chairman expressed regret that Pooley should have come to such a position. H.
