« A MODIFICATION OF HIS PLAN. [PBESS ASSOCIATION.] (Received January 27, 11.20 .a.m.) London, 26th January. The Right Hon. Cecil Rhodes's mission to London to make the financial arrangements for the extension of his great Cape-to-Cairo raihvay scheme has been only partially successful. Mr. Rhodes has abandoned for the present the proposal to extend the line as far as Lake Tanganyika, but so far as the* scheme relates to the extension from Buluwayo, the chief toAvn of Matabelcland, to the Zambesi RiA'er, it has been accepted.
