THE STRATHMERTON TRAGEDY. [press association.] (ReceivedJSeptember 27, 10 a.m.) Melboubnb, This Day. The man Archer, arrested on the charge of having murdered his mate, Matthews (whose body was found at Strathmerton tied up iv a sack), the ground of suspicion being that ho sold the horse and cart which the pair had been using in collecting opossum skins, says that Matthews went away with two men, and it was when he failed to return that he (Archer) disposed of the turn-out. The police have strong circumstantial evidence against Archer.
