A PHILIPPINE REQUEST FOB INDEPENDENCE. i [PRESS AS3OCIATION.] Washington, 24th September. The Americans are insisting on the immediate evacuation of Cuba. The Insurgent Assembly at the Philippines requests that the group be declared independent, oxcepfcing as regards an American protectorate over the internal affairs of the islands. American troops at Honolulu have heen ordered to Manila.
