WELLINGTON CRICKET ASSOCIATION. The report of the Wellington Cricket Association, to be presented at the annual meeting to be held iv the Exchange Buildings uext Monday, stales that from a cricketing point of view the season has been full of interest, aud much enthusiasm was shown iv the game all round. It reviews the season's fixtures, and mentions that for the incoming season our representatives are due iv Auckland and Canterbury, and visits should be received from Otago and Hawkes Bay. There is a proposal from the New Zealand Cricket Council that a team representing New Zealand should pay a visit to New South Wales, Victoria, and Tasmania during the coming season to try conclusions with those colonies, and this Association is asked to guarantee the sum of £50 towards the expenses. Various services to the Association are acknowledged. Trophies for scores of over 50 have been won by Messrs. C. A. Rbhardson, 77 and 73 against Canterbury and Hawkes Bay, A. R. Holdship 79, and G. F. Burton 63, against Canterbury. A sum of nearly £90 having been expended in relaying pitches, levelling, topdressing, and re-turfing the Basin Reserve, the Council has agreed to forego the rent charged for the use of the pavilion for the year ending December, 1898, and to levy a charge of 5 per cent, on the gate money when the Reserve is let for sports of any kind. The statement of assets and liabilities will show that the Association is financially sound. The Committee express the Bincere regret felt in athletic circles generally, and among cricketers iv particular, at the loss by death of Mr. R. V. Blacklock, who represented his province for a number of years, and was a zealous officer of the Association. The balance-sheet shows the total receipts to have been £486, and the expenditure £467. The following notices of motion will also be brought forward at the annual meeting :—: — Mr. A. T. Bate will move— " That in all Cup contests in which there are two rounds the side lobing the toss in the first match shall have choice of innings in the second." Mr. W. E. Provided that it shall be constitutional for the Association at any annual meeting to determine the affiliation of any club or clubs should the majority at a general annual meeting so decide." Mr 1 .
