THE AMBERLEY MURDERER. HE ADMITS THE JUSTICE OF HIS SENTENCE. [BY TELEGRAPH.- PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, 20th July.

Sheehan, the Amberley murderer, is to be hanged at 8 to-morrow morning. Father Cummings and the nuns have been very attentive to the condemned man, who admits that he has been justly sentenced for the crime, and is quite resigned to his fate. The press representatives will not be admitted to the execution, but several Justices of the Peace will be present.* Tom Long, the hangman, who is undergoing a sentence of three months, has been brought down from Wanganui. Trouble is anticipated in hanging Sheehan, through a large goitre on his neck. A special appliance has been provided. This will be the fourth execution in Lyttelton — Swale in 1868, Cedeno in 1871, and Mercer in 1875 being the three others.
