" ♦ '', CRIMINAL SESSIONS. This Bat. (Before his Honour the Chief Justice.) WOUNDING WITH INTENT TO MAIM. Joseph Kenny, hotelkeeper, was charged ■with having wounded Timothy O'Gorman with intent to disfigure him, at Pahiatua. Accused pleaded Not Guilty and was defended by Messrs. Jellicoe and Tosswill; 3dr. Gully prosecuting. % O'Gonnan, who is a labouring man living at Mangatainoka, was in/Pahiatua on the 9th September last. Ho went to accused's and other hotels there during the day, and when he left for homo in the evening he was much the worse for drink. After ho had gone a short distance he lay down at the side of the road and went to sleep. Some time afterwards he was aroused by the pain of some person cutting at his ears—the pain being sufficient to bring him to his senses, and to enable him, he swear*, to recognise the accused. The top of his ears was cut off by his assailant. A short time prior to this O'Gorman had brought an action against the accused and recovered £oO from him. (Left sitting.) '
