I Masterton, Tms Day. During the four j'ears ending 1895 the sum of £1335 was expended by the North Wairarapa Benevolent Society in charitable aid, exclusive of casual relief. Casual relief was extended in 24 cases last month as against 44 during the previous month. Cahterton, This Day. Extensive improvements have been made on the show grounds of the Wairarapa Pastoral and Agricultural Society. A produce shed, 100 ft long and 40ft wide, has been erected, and permanent booths for dining-rooms, fruit stalls, &c, built. New offices for the Secretary and press occupy a a central position, all other buildings being removed to the sides of the ground. The Library Committee has decided to open a public reading room and allow the library books to be read in the room. Mr. A. Ayles has been appointed resident custodian and librarian. The new Belvedere Dairy and Cheese Factory was opened yesterday with 250 gallons of milk, which it is expected will be doubled by the end of the month. It is less than three months since the company was formed.
