The quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,550,000 quarters ; for the Continent, 850,000 .quarters. Messrs. John Mowlem & Co. report on their stock sale held in the Masterton yards yesterday :— We had a large entry of cattle, fully 150 of all classes being yarded, of which all sold with the exception of a few old cows at firm rates. In sheep few came in, and several lines left the yards failing to find purchasers. During the week we sold privately several large mobs of sheep at good figures. We quote— Fat wethers at from 12s to 13s ; fat ewes, 10s ; empty ewes, 9s 6d to 10s 3d ; hoggets, 5s 9d ; fat bullocks, 115s; fat cows, 85s ; fat heifers, 98s 6d; three-year-old steers, 70s ; two-year-old steers, 50s; 20-month steers, 35s 6d ; springing heifers, 81s ; cows in calf, 77s 6d to 90s ; yearlings, 38s; store pigs, 8s 6d to 10s; weaners, ss.
