, Nominations for the four vaoanoies in the City Council olosed at noon to day. Messrs. L. L. Harris, J. Smith, jun , and George dndorson have been returned unopposed for Lambton, Te Aro, and Thorndon Wards respectively, but Mr. F. Penty's re-election for Cook Ward is opposed by Mr. W. Higgin- , bottom. The nominations were as follows : — Thorndon Ward — George Anderson, nominated by James Barry and Matthew a Murdooh. Lambton Ward — Lionel L. Harris, j. nominated by Alfred Lindsay and Charles Hill. g Te Aro Ward — John Smith, jun., „ nominated by George Winder and Robert g Henry Furness. Cook Ward— Franois Penty, nominated by - William Boooock and John Halley ; Wilfred Higginbottom, nominated by John Pattinson and George Baker.
