In the Legislative Assembly Sir John Downer oharged the Premier with deceiving the House and the country in regard to the New Zealand treaty, and asked him to deny that New Zealand^ had sought to exqlude barley and fresh fruit from ite provisions. The delay, he said, waa causing serious injury to the producers. The House was asked to discuss a treaty which owing to the alterations made in it did not exist. Mr. Kingston hotly replied that there were no arrangements to alter the treaty, whioh he believed wonld substantially be ratified in its present form. He doubted the aoouraoy of the press telegrams upon the matter. He refused to give information as to the communications from the New Zealand Government.
