Private telegrams from China state tbat the stepß taken by Great Britain and Amerioa to prevent further outrages are ina.dea.nate. Shanghai, 22nd August. The Chinese destroyed the chapel and school attached to the Amerioan Mission Station in Fuohan. Four native scholars wero wounded. Mobs ,of members of -the Vegetarian Society are parading the streets crying— " Drive out tbe foreign devils." Tho oflicLils are said to be implicated. The riot is spreading.
