A WONDERFUL RESCUE. NEARLY 300 PEOPLE TAKEN OFF A SINKING STEAMER [PRESS ASSOCIATON.] London, 21st Angust.
The steamer Seaford, plying between Dieppe and Newhaven, came into collision 25 miles from the coast with the steamer Lyon, during a fog. Tho Seaford was damagod abaft the engines, and sank stern first in 40 minutes. There were on board 255 passengers and a orew of 42, and they were all rescued in boats, snme of them only getting off when the portholes were under water. The 1 yon came alongside immediately, and assisted A few people were hurt in the rush to escape. ___
