THE DISTURBANCES AT TAUPO.
Mr. Fatk, postmaster at Tanpo, telegraphed to the Seoretary of the Post and Telegraph Department (Mr. Gray) as follows last night : — " Nothing- fresh. Last earthquake 7 pm. I omitted to mention that we had a tidal wave on Saturday night, height 2ft. I put 1000 tront ova into hatching boxes on Friday night. The Bhaking motion ahook them into heaps, and a little sediment oame from tbe spring. Fortunately no damage was done to the ova." This morning Mr. Park sent the following message :— " Only a few feeble quakes last night." This afternoon Mr. Park telegraphed as follows :— "Another very severe shock at 2.30. It is reported that a ereafc famarole has broken oat behind Tanhara. A party has gone out to see." The postmaster at Tarawera has reported a severe shook as having occurred at 2.30 this afternoon.
