The management state tbat this is absolutely neoessary if 'they are to retain the trade, as the other collieries in the distriot are selling below the nominal fixed rate of 7s. They have been driven to fight, and are determined to oarry it on to the bitter end. j Hobart, 17th Augnst. The Colonial Treasurer moved the second reading of the Income Tax Sill, imposing a. tax of 8d in the £ on inoomes derived from personal exertion, and Is on incomes derived from the earnings of property and company inoomes. Brisbane, 17th Angnst. Singapore advioea to the 24th July state that oholera is raging there, and the nnmber of deaths increasing daily.
