f PRESS ASSOCIATION ] Invercarqill, 16th Augnst. By a fire which occurred to-night the shops of Meesrs. Eastwood (draper), Macfarlane (baker), and Myers and Co (chemists) wero completely destroyed, and the brick buildings of the New Zealand Clothing Factory Company gutted, while the shop of Lovell (plumber) and Rcdding's billiardroom were damaged. Dunedin, 16th Augnst. Iho case of tho Southland Frozen Meat and Produco Company v. Nelson Bros, will probably be heard before a Bpecial jury in November. This Day. John Stewart, a youth who whs arrested in Wellington, has been committed for trial. Gisborne, This Day. At the Supreme Court, in the case of Sergeant v. Wall, a claim of .£4OO damages for the illegal iasuo of a search warrant, tbe plaintiff was nonsuited.
