♦ After we went to press yesterday, the President moved—" That this Conference authorises the Executive to confer and aot with the Munioipal Assoeiati jn in all matters affeoting both Associations." Mr. Whitoomb (Pahiatua), on behalf of Mr. Yon Ueden (Palmortton North), proposed, "That the Counties Aot Bhonld be imended sols to provide that the Government should pay subsidy in each outlying distriot separately." Seconded by-4lr. lidwards (Ohinemuri), and lost Mr. Edwardß (Ohinemuri) moved—" That where a county contains -tfnall townships (that is, condensed settlements not town distriots) provisions may be made for the constitution of special rating districts, not being co-extensive with riding boundaries, for _ water supply, . Btreet formation, and Jramage, such special rate to be on petition, tnd to extend over a space of five or seven years." Seconded by Mr. Logon (Mnniototo), and carried. On the motion of Mr. Edwards (Ohinemuri), seconded by Major Sommerville (wanganui), it was decided, "That in the opinion of the Conference, one-fourtb of the revenue derived from the sale of any timber on Crown lands be held to be the property of the major local body of the distriot." Mr. Bewley ( Taranaki) proposed and Mr. Edwards (Ohinemuri) seconded, " That the ''OTernment be requested to place a sum on the Estimates to enable the Pnblie Trustee to pay rates due on native lands." Carried. On the motion of Mr. Buiok (Manchester vnd Manawatu), seconded by Mr. Collins (Kaikouta) 4 it was decided that the Exeou"•ve, with power to add to its number should revise the resolutions before they were printed, and that six copies should be sent to eaoh affiliated body. Votes of thanks wero pa6sed to the Presilent and other officers and the local press tnd tha Conference then adjourned until a •opy of the Local Government Bill oan be jbtained.
