As far as - the police w^re aware, there was nothing to support the prisoner's suggpstion tbat Angus M'Donald (one of tho v itneases for the Crown) was the guilty party. People with whom he had been employed gave him a good charaoter. His Honour said though the jnry had not felt themselves justified in making the inference he Bhonld have drawn — that the person in whose possession the stolen property was found was the person who stole it— it made liUle or no difference There could be no sympathy with a man like tho prisoner, who was in good employment at the time of the committal of tbe offence. Prisoner was sentenced to a term of tbreo years' imprisonment on both charges, the terms to be concurrent.
