MADAGASCAR.
« WHY COL. SHERVINTON LEFT THE HOVA SERVICE. [Special.— Received August 15, 10.50 a.m.] London, 14th August. Colonel Shervinton, formerly in the Malagasy service, has returned to England. He explains that be left Madagascar owing to the apathy of the Hova Qovernment. He asked for 20,000 men fully armed and equipped, but the authorities delayod providing them until it was useless. Otherwise, he oould easily havo chookod the French.
