At a meeting of the Marine Board it was deoided to recommend the Governor not to enforoe the Load-line Act nutil the lat January next. It was to have come into force on the Ist September, but in view of the representations made by the ship-owners, it wag deemed inexpedient to enforce the law until the other colonies were communicated with, with tho intention of arranging for uniform action. One member urged that the Bystem was already in force in New Zealand, and he thought there had been sufficient delay already. Other members expressed doubt whether it had ever yet been enforced in New Zealand.
