The strong curiosity whioh exists as to the production of " The Land of the Moa " will have an opportunity of gratification tonight, when the first performance of the new work will take plaoe at the Opera House. Both in Sydney and in Wellington for weeks past the most capable soenio and meohanioal staff available has been making elaborate preparations for the opening, and of these a number of gentlemen had, at the invitation of the management, an opportunity of judging on Saturday evening, when a dress rehearsal was held. The drama proved to be Bet on an extraordinary soale of elaboration. There are volcanlo' eruptions, earthquakes, steamingsprinffi.terraces.andsoenioandmeohamoal effeot? to no end depicting the natural wonders of New Zealand, and exoellent work has been put into the 19 oloths shown by Mr. Clint and the other artists who have contributed to ths soenery. Through this Betting a large oast performs the notion of the drama, whioh deals with both Maori and English life. A troupe of Maoris gives native danoes in one of the soenes.
