ARREST OF LEONARD HARPER.

The Government has rooeived telegraphic advice of the arrest in Jerßey, at its instance, of Leonard Harper, of the firm of Harper, Harper, and Maude, of Chriatchnroh. He is held under the Fugitive Offenders Act on a oharge of embezzlement of the money of a client, and will be oharged with this offence at Bow-street. Aconeed has been living comfortably in Jersey for sometime, making no attempt to evade arrest, and npon its becoming apparent that the creditors of the firm did-not propose to proceed against him, the Government had him watched by Scot-land-yard officers. Mr. Skerrett, in the absence of Mr. Gully, Crown Prosecntor in connection with the Midland Bailway arbitration, has been sent to Christohurch to colleot evidence to be forwarded to London on behalf of the Government. Tbis evidence will be taken oharge of by Inspector Pander, who has also gone to Christohuroh, and who will proceed to England — probably by the Doric— at the end of the month. The speoifio oharges to be brought will be determined by the evidence forthcoming. Inspector Pender will also take with him the confession made by Evison of an old-time English murder. The Inspeotor will go alone, bat it is expeoted that Scotland-yard will send an officer oat to bring Evison Home for trial, and that this officer will 'assist the Inspeotor in bringing out Harper.
