(Our Own Correspondent.) Masterton, This Day.
Another old identity has gone — Mrs. Agnes Thompson, mother of Mr. T. D. Thompson, of the Empire Hotel, who waa Etrioken with paralyais nine weeks ago, and died at an early hour this morning, agpd 68. Deceased had been in business as a hotelkeeper in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and Adelaide, having arrived in Australia 53 years ago. the arrived- at Wellington in 1865, and was for Borne time landlady of the old Freemasons' Hotel there, and afterwards of the Prince of Wales Hotel in Grey-street. She oamn to Masterton 18 years ago, and was in turn landlady of the Prince of Wales and Empire Hotels, retiring here two years ago. Her death is very muoh regretted, as she was a good woman.
