THE QUEEN'S DRIVE.

TO THE EDITOR, Sir — If Mr. Baylis is correctly reported, he yesterday informed the Benevolent Trustees that Mr. Mo waft, tben Mayor of Beliose, Mr. Baylis, and Mr. Foster, clerk Melroso Borough Counoil, sat aa individuals, and not as representatives of that body, on the Unemployed Relief Works Committee ; if he had consulted the minute book of the Molroee Borough he would have found that the Mayor, Mr. Mowatt, moved at the ordinary meeting of that Council that Messrs. Baylis, Foster, and the Mayor be the Melrose Council's representatives on the Unemployed Relief Works Committee. I hope Mr. Baylis has been incorrectly reported. I am, &c, Teohas Galt. Wellington, 9th May, 1895.
