AUSTRALIAN. DEFYING THE CYANIDE PATENTEES

f PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Melbourne, Gth May. The Colonial Treasurer has obtained a report from the Government Statistician on Mr. Wynne's pension oommntation sobeme. This report shows by carefully worked calculations that it would benefit the colony for a period of 13 years only, after whioh tho colony would be saddled with an annual payment of .£IOI,OOO, instead of a continnally decreasing pension list. The schema would also depend on obtaining 3J per cent from a oommntation loan, bnt with so much oheap money offering it is considered very doubtful if this rate could be retained. The report is all in favour of the existing scheme. ( Reoeived May 7, 10.40 p m ) Adelaide, This Day. The Chief Secretary promised a deputation to consider tbe question of testing the validity of the Macartbur-Forrest patent by refusing any longer to pay royalty to the Australian Gold Recovering Company for the use of cyanide. Hobart, This Day. At a meeting of the shareholders of the Exhibition the report stated that it was doubtful whether the shareholders would receive any portion of their money baok, unless tho outstanding amounts were collcoted. The meeting was satisfied that the Exhibition itself hod been a genuine success, but financially it was a dismal failure. Sydney, This Day. Tbe sheep sent by the Taluno arrived in excellent condition.
