lUNHKD FBISB ASEOCIATION.i Hob*rt, 25th April. The Intercolonial Conference of Fruit, growers is now sitting at Hobart daily. Efforts arc being ma'ie to form an Australasian Federal Fruitgrowers' Associate n, baying branches in each colony, with the obiect of interchanging information, procuring united action, and securing encouragement from ihe various Government! on behalf of the industry. The intercolonial frnit show was a great success. New Zealand made an excellent display, the pomoloeists, Messrs. J. C. Blaokmoro and Palmer, being roundly congratulated Representations are being made to the New Zealand Government with a view to holding the next conference at Wellington, in March. The New Zealand delegates are responding to invitations to visit orchards here and in other colonies, in order to obtain all possible information as to the. methods of culture and marketing. Latest. Mr. Hatnpson (Anckland delegate) advocated the establishment of a bureau of commerce, urged that the subsidies paid to the mail steamers should be shared with the cargo boats, and favoured distribution in Kngland through other markets in preference to maintaining London as the distributing centre.
