A MINISTER FLOUTED.
|Bt Tbligbaph.l idhitkd prksB association. i Christchtjbch, 24th April. The Charitable Aid Board to-day empowered the Charitable Aid Committee to appoint a female Inspector. The Board considered the following letter from Dr. MacGregor : —"I am direoted by the Hon. "W. P. Reeves to suggest to yonr Board that in view of the suggestive verdict of the late Boyal Commission in the matter of the oharges made against your Believing Offioer, the Department is of opinion that he cannot continue to exercise his functions with advantage, either to the publio, the Board, or himself." The following resolution was carried : — " That the Board having considered the letter from the Hon. W. P. Beeves, is unable to agree with the views expressed therein, and that in the judgment of the Board the action already taken meets in every way the ends of justioe."
