SALE OF CROFTON AND RANQIURU-BX-THE-SEA, TO-NIGHT.

A now feature in land sales is aunuonnced by T. Kennedy Mncdonald & Co., Ltd., in changing the time of sales from the day to tuo evening. This lias been done at tli» swfgostion of a number or persons who cannot without loss abseut themselves from their employment during tho day time. In addition to presenting a varied catalogue of real estate for auction sale, which in itself will doubtless attraot a large attendance, the firm is opening to-night for the first time its new auction rooms on Lambton-quay. Tho interest of the sale will naturally centre around the townships of Crofton and Haußiuru-bytho-Sea. The hitter wa» first offered on Easter Saturday, at Otalu, but the fearful gale on that day effectually barred the attendance of all but local buyers, and after a considerable number of suburban sections had been sold to Otolti residents, the sale was adjourned till this evening at Wellington. An interesting account of tho new marine town has appeared in tho local journal, and will be found in another column. Crofton has been known for half a century ay one of the most healthy and charming of 'Wellington suburbs, but like many other blocks, it was held in large areas, and this has debarred settlement. Mr. liittlejohn's inflnn health has led to the cutting up of his estate into 17 blocks, including the family residence and a seven-roomed cottage. As these blooks range from half an aero to over two acres each, they form admirable suburban villa sites, and as such are likely to command attention. It is a foot not generally known that cheapas are the tramway fares it costs less to live at Crofton than at Newtown, as tho return railway trip each day on a yearly ticket only involves an out. lay of about twopence. This, and the further ad. vantage of being supplied at Crofton by all Wellington shopkeeper* at City prices, gives the residents there all the advantages of city life with the addition of cheap land. The advertisement ■ets out very fully the many pioturosque attractions of Crof con, and ill other olaims to?avourabla consideration. There are also a number of Citj

properties in to-night's catalogue, prominent amongst which is town acre No. 933, frouting Adelniile-road and Hanfcon-street. Thia acre is being Bold to close the accounts of an absentee estate, and is interesting from the fact that it bos remained unclaimed for half a century. Building allotments close totho Tramway Sheds and on the South rood, and a farm in Shannon, soM at the ri»k of a formtr purchaser, complete an important catalogue, which should fill "the first uieht " of the new auction rooms with a large attendance.
