Wallace Smith, late Inspector of Stock, was presented last night by the East Coast settlers with a purse of sovereigns and a testimonial. The settlers of Wharcama intend petitioning the Minister of Lands through Mr Hogg for a supply of wire netting at cost price and on terms. 'I ho statement in the bankrupt estate of J. M. Drew, Hettier, shows the assets to be £5 10s, and the liabilities £72 153 9d.
