The committee of shopkeepers who objected to the Shops and Shop Assistants Aot has issued a public notice that they intend to carry out the spirit of the measure by dosing on half a day in each week— viz., Wednesday. They exhort their fellow-shop-kocpers, whether exempt from the working of the Act or not, to do likewise, believing that this would prove the strongest argument againßt any farther legislation in tho matter.
