THE SWIMMING CLUB. TO THE EDITOR.

—I am sincerely gratified to learn thai g_ v «ing taken to form a club with atepa ore „. -«>w»gfag swimming, and, thoobjectof^ -«rit to be supported. I in my opinion, it o^ ' not b , e ™* m _ en ; hope Tthe promoters WeW cd .,} f the thusiasm and be discoura b . remember meeting is not orowded, but vl. " >ni and there are some anxious to hel^ tbt,. Nt ? ■who are not at liberty that evening, OWi^ to other engagements. Such a club should have been in oxistenco long ago. The usefulness of swimming both in saving life and as a healthy exercise I need not eulogize. Those who not ablo to swim and, for financial roasons, aro not in a position to obtain instruction from an expert, should, teach thomselves. Others have done this and becomo expert swimmers, so why should not they do the same ? I think in seaport towns swimming should form part of a person's education. Thanking you in anticipation. I am, &c, A IiOVEB OF SwiMHINO. Wellington, 28th August, 1894.
