The Government has issued a manifesto asking for the mandate of the colony as to a revieiou of duties without interfering with the Protective policy, especially with regard to certain prohibitive duties which have severely affented the revenue of the country. Ministers also consider an Income and Absentee Tax the fairest method of reachingaccumulated wealth. The present Parliament is too costly and cumbrous, and the Government will strive to get the number of members in the Legislative Assembly reduced to 70. Ministers further express their determination after the end of the year to abolish future pensions and compensation.
