(UNITED PRISB ASSOCIATION. | Melbourne, 30th August. A large number of candidates are annonnced for tho general election. It is expeoted the Government will formulate a new policy for submission to the country.

Tho Premier, speaking at an agricultural show Innoheon, said the policy of high freights and Customs tariff was utterly wtong. The Government would render New South Wales every assistance to gee rid ot the border difficulties, which were absolute barbarism. The Opposition leaders havO drafted tho programme upon which they will go to the country. They advocate no interference with the tariff, a tax on wealth in preference to incomes, Federation, and retrenchment without harsh dismissals. The questions of Womanhood Suffrage and one-man-one-vote are left open.
