|.By Teleobaph.] i united pbess association. | Invkbcaiioill. This Day. At a Tomperanoo Convention held here to-day, tho societies of the distriot amalgamated in one Prohibition League. At a public meeting in the Theatre Eoyal, a resolution was passed as to tho Licensing Bill before the Bouse, to the effect that the proposed constitution of committees is retrogressive; demanding the continuance of elected committees, with elected Chairmen; that the majority of votes determine the issueo at the pol: that sub-section 18 of the Alcoholic Liquors Sale Control Aot be embodied in the present measure ; and that the old form of voting paper under the ono heading of publicans' licenses be resortod to. The other resolutions were similar to those passed further north. The Advance Division of the Sons and Daughters of Temperance at its usual meet- " ing last night passed the following resolution:—"That this Division expresses its great disappointment with tho Government Licensing Bill, especially in regard to the proposed constitution of the Licensing Committee, and the provision for counting the votes, and would urge upon the Temperance M.H.R.'s tho necessity for amending the Bill in these respects."
