THE WRECK OF THE INDIANA.
♦ I By Telegraph, j I UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION. | Auckland. 10th July. The barquentine Indiana, reported from Launceston as wrecked, was docked at Auckland before leaving, and underwent a thorough overhaul to the extent of JBI2OO. She took from Auckland the following passengers :— A. R. Carnie, Appott, W. Nuna, Frederick Louis, and Peter Nicholas. •' The crew comprised Captain John Curran, B. Girling (mate) G. H. White, A. 8. Barnett, P. Bradey. S. Allan, John Benton (A B.s), and J. C. Taylor (cook and steward). Mrs. Cardno, of Fort-street, owner of Long Island, from which the guano was shipped, has received a cablegram (from Launceston which says that the crew are supposed to be saved, and are expected to arrive in Launceston Bhortly. The hull of the vessel was not insured, but the cargo and freight were insured in the Alliance office for £350, in the New Zealand Insurance Company for a similar amount, and in the China Traders' office for .£250. (Received July 11, 11 a.m.) Launceston, This Dat. There are no signs of the crew of the wrecked vessel Indiana. The hnll was not insured, and the cargo was insured for £2000.
