THE THIRD-CLASS CHAMPIONSHIP TO THE EDITOR.

' Sir— Kindly allow me space to call the J attention of cricketers to tho absurdity of the regulations governing the Third Class Championthip. Tho position is this : The | Wellington Club's third eleven, which has gone through tho season unbeaten, is called on to play a final match with tho Kilbirnie Club's I second eleven— a team it has already beaten. Tho < 'liarnpionsbip goes to the winners of fchiß 1 match. That is to say, the Kilbirnie Club i has everything to gain and nothing to lose ; by playing this match. Tie Wellington <'_lub, now that the sr-ason is over and prao- | tioe impossible may by one stroke of bad ■ luck lose all it has beon fighting for during tho season. Surely such an absurdity is without precedent m the annals of cricket. The wrong may be without a retnody this season, but the Association should be on its guard when framing the conditions x»f next year's competition. I am, &c, v _ ?I'ORT. Wellington 12th April.
