THE VOLUNTEERS.
The City Kiflos held a gouoral competition for all classes on Saturday at the Polhill Gully Riflo Hango Conditions— A and B Classes, seven fchots each at 300, 500, and 600 yards; C Class, seven shots each at 200 and 300 yards. Corporal Jackson scored a win for tho Senior Trophy ; Privato Robinson secured a " log-in " for the B Class Trophy ; and Private roomer won the Junior Trophy. The weather was not favourable for good shooting, but, nevertheless, some fair shooting- was done. The following are the leading scores in each class : —
♦Ammunition prizes. The City Rifles' shooting fixtures for tho current week are as follows : — Junior Class to fire to-morrow morning for binoculars at the long range ; distances. 200 and 500 yards, seven shotß at eaoh, Snider rifles. A and B Classes on Saturday, at the Polhill Gully ranges ; 300, 500, and 600 yards, seven shots at each, with Martini rifles. Ammunition can be obtained after the Government parade this evening. The Petono Naval Artillery held a competition on Saturday afternoon tor trophieß and other prizes. The following are the principal scores in each class : —
