THE CATHOLIC VOTE. TO THE EDITOR.
Sib— The unscrupulous action of those who connived at the insertion of the deliberately misleading advertisement in last Monday's Post with regard to this vote, in order to divert it from the chosen "ticket" in favour of the publican party, though it in a measure succeeded in advancing Mr. Macdonald's position at the poll, has, however, recoiled against the party, and will hereafter further tell against them. Unfortunately for Mr. Vo'gel, the tactics adopted somewhat damaged him, as it clearly did the other two gentlemen on the " ticket," many Catholics being quite perplexed, not knowing of tho advertisement in the morning paper. . I am glad to see for his own reputation's sake that Mr. Vogcl has since disclaimed all knowledge of the affair. Such on unwarrantable departure from the ordinary spirit of fair play which hitherto characterised election warfare in Wellington cannot bnt recoil against those who countenanced the deceit, lam, &c, A Catholic.
