A BOROUGH UNDER PETTICOAT GOVERNMENT.

Mrs. Elizabeth Yates, wife of Captain Tatoa, a well-known resident of Onehunga, has been elected Mayor of that borough by a majority of 13 votes. The other candidate was Mr. Court, a local draper. DdNKDiN. 29th November. Considerable interest was takon in the City Mayoralty. The Prohibitionists and Women's Franchise League were against Mr. Fish. Mr. Chapman, the other candidate, was bronght out by them, and they spared no effort in attempting to repeat the defeat of the previous day. The voting was heavy, Mr. H. S. Fish polling 1067 and Mr. C. K. Chapman 74.9. Mr. Fish, who is -sorionsly ill in bed,.had therefore a majority of 318. At Roslyn, Mr. A. Matheson defeated Mr.' L Kennedy. Christchubch. 29th November. The Mayoral election was won by Mr. T. Gapes, City Counoitlor, whd defeated Mr. Eden Georgo, the present Mayor. The numbora polled were:— Gapes, 8.0; George, 365 Mr. J. Thompson has been elected Mayor of Lyttelton. — -- « Timaru. 291U November. In the Mayoral election, Mr. Jacob Hill, an old Councillor, defeated Mr. J. Jackson, formerly Mayor for several terms. HoicrriKA,29th November. Mr. R W.Wade has been re-elected Mayor of-flokitika by a majority of 78 votes. Invkecaboicl, This Dat. Mr. A. Raeside was elected -Mayor of Invorcargill with 221 votes, Mr. A. Blaoke polling 180, Mr. M'Farlane (the retiring Mayor) 126, and Mr. Storie 40. Mr. M'Kao has been eleoted for "Gore, beating Mesßrs. Beattie and Simson, former Mayors. Danevirke, This Day The Mayoral eleotion resulted in the return of Mr. W. Henderson, who polled 82 as against Mr. Maokay's 81. 'j, . Oamaku, This Dat.
