Onslow Borough Council.
Tho monthly meeting of the Onslow Borough Council was hold on Tuesday evening. Present— Tho Mayor (Mr. A. Cameron), Coune llors Apltn, Durroll, Holmes, and Uormer. A lotter was read from Mrs. Ballanco acknowledging the resolution of condolence passed by the Council in connection with her husband's death. A letter uas road from Mr. G. Hobbs in reference to the hh.iyiufr of cattle on the Klmndalhh-road. The Road Inspector reported that the northern rotainiug-wn.il near tho Kaiwarra Bridge had shifted bodily down stream two inches since the last mooting. On tho motion of Councillor Aplin, seconded by Councillor Dormer, it was resolved that Mr. Ward, C.E., should repair tho bridgo by driving in piles on tho northern side Mr. J. T. Follas asked tho Council to put in a crossing at tho foot of tho Porirua-road. It was rosolved, on the motion of Councillor Aplin, seconded by Counoil'or Dnrroll, to lay down crossings in Kauvarrn. whero deemed necessary, and also in front of the Esplanade Hotel ; aibO to pnt down necessary kerbings, and that drainpipes he put across the road at tho southern boundary of tho borough, so as to carry off tho surface water from Mr. Stowe's property. Councillor Durrell moved that tho City Council should be asked to continue the footpath along tho Uutt-road to connect with tho path laid down hy tho Onslow Council. Councillor Dormer secondod tho motion, which was agreed to On tho easting vote of tho Mayor, Mr. G. Hobbs was appointed ranger for Crofton and Khandallah. It was decided to approach tho Manawatu Railway Company in reforoi.co to the metalling- of tho road from tho Khandallah railway station j also that road metal should bo broken at City Council price, and that Councillors Aplin, Dormer, Holmes. Durroll, and tho Koad Inspector should bo a committee to inspect and pass tho motal. It was rosolved to accept an offer from Mr. W. Prioo to supply 100 ynrdo oF rough metal for tho cost of the carting (10s a day), if tho metal is of good quality. Councillor Dormer moved that Councillors Aplin, Holmes, and himself should bo a working' committee, with power individually to put ou labour in their respective districts, the amount expended by each not to exceed ;f*IO a month except by special instruction. It was resolved to write to Councillor Casey with regard to clearing off tho gorse in front of his property. Accounts having been passed, tho mooting terminated.
