The monthly meeting of tho Mclrose Borough Council wn.3 held last night. : Present— The Mayor (Mr. H. D. Crawford), Councillors Baylis, Mowatt, Chogwin, Fear, 1 Brunskill, and Key. An apology was received for the absence of Councillor Webb. The report of the Public Works Commitee, which has already been published, t w&s adopted. It was decided that tenders should be called for the supply and delivery of first-claa; road metal upon the streets of Kilblmie for ', 12 months. Accounts amounting to .£lO5 were passed | A deputation from Brooklyn waited upon the Council consisting of Messrs. J. H. Hcaton, H. Baker, Jennings, and another, and usked the Council to take over a portion ■ of the Brooklyn estate as a site for a public ball It was decided to consider the mattel [ when it was before the Council in propel , form. The Falmerston North Borough Counoil wrote asking for Bupport to a proposal thai 10 per cent, should he added to all rates in arrenr after three months from the dat« fixed for payment. It was decided that the Council's delegate to the Municipal Conference should support the proposal. A request from Mr. W. C. Chatfield for repairs to Mercer-street, Island Bay, was referred to the Public Works Committee. Mr. E. B. Brown wrote asking if the existing rights to graze on the Roseneath Estate were terminated by a month's notice, and permission was given to the Council's Ranker to impound all cattle found on the property, the Council would withdraw the notice to fence the frontage to the Evans' Bay-road. Referred to the Public Works Committee. It was decided that tho Council bad no power to form a road ou the Roeeneath Estate. Tho Town Clerk was direoted to take legal proceedings against persons whoße cattle are found trespassing on the streets of the borough
