A resolution was unanimously carried in favour of the Direct Veto Bill. Dunidik, 19th July. A widow named Sarah Ann Smith died suddenly at Port Chalmers. This Day. Robert Brown, charged with a breach of the Factory Act. in employing- a boy after 1 p.m. on Saturday, was to-day fined 10s and coats. (Our Own Correspondent.) Palmes-ton Nobth, This Dat. A moetinjr °f tho Prohibition League was held last evening, and confirmed the resolution supporting Mr. F. Pirani's candidature for the Palmerßton seat at the general eleotion. The motion to rescind the resolution was withdrawn.
