Pamkbrston North, This Day. A meeting of ratepayers of the Matmwatn Road Hoard District was held on Saturday, to consider the olairaa for damage done by drajna put by the Government in the Katranga District. It was regolvod to petition the Government to assist in oarr.y{ng the drains to an outlet in tlio IT anawatn or Orona Rivers. Sir. D. Grant requested permission to address the meeting on his grievance, but the Chairman ruled against him on the gronnd that ho had not filed a olaim in detail. The mooting broke up in disorder. Mr. Grant addressed those present from the body of the hall, and stated he would fllo a. olaim on Tuesday and allow the Board 24 houis to settle.. Many perponalitiei were indulged in between Messrs. Grant rod Pirani. ' The members of the Orange lodges held a ohuroh parade yesterday. About 40 attended. A sermon wad preached in All Saints' Chnroh by tho Key. Mr. Eoolei, Diatriot Brand Chaplain. The Palmerston Eiflea also held a ohnroh parade yesterday, abont 40 being present, rho sermon was preaohed by Ber. Mr. Ihomson, chaplain. - '
