At a, meoting of tho Permanent Building Society, to-night, it was resolved to support the Southland Society in urging that building societies as well as savings Banks Bhould be exempt under tho amonded Land and Inaomo Assessment Act. At the funeral of Judge Brood this afternoon^ the service was performed at St. 1 Mary's by Archbishop Redwood, tho Very 8 Reverend Father Mahonoy and Father Landaur. The Archbishop delivered an able i funeral oration, eulogising tho publio and private virtues of tho docoased. Christchurch, 19th August.
