THE NEW HEBRIDES. A JAPANESE IMMIGRATION SCHEME
(united press association. l (Roceired July 11, 10 a.m.) Sydney, This Day. Japan is engaged in looking out for a field to absorb tho surplus labouring' population of that country, and is dirocting its attention to tho Now Hebrides. A member of the Japancso Emigration Sooiety of Tokio, accompanied by a member of tbe Government, loft for those islands last week, on a tour of inspection. Mr. Laing, Secretary of the Australasian Hebrides Company, says that if tho inspection is satisfactory, it may be the means of hastening tho hands of Grpat Britain and France, and lead to some definite action on the part of one or other of those Powers. The Company will hail the advent of the Japanese labourers with satisfaction.
