The Fire Brigades' Conference.

The Fire Brigades' Conference this morning passed the following resolutions : — That no member shall be entitled to either the Association certificate, medal, or bar unless he attends two-thirds of the musters of his brigade, except when prevented by sickness pr leave of absence. Tb.it somo better method of deciding 1 wet finishes be adopted in competitions, either by eleotrioity or some other way more certain than at present. That brigades not sending in returns of rules and members by 31st July be debarred from all privilege! of the Association till after the next competition. That in the event of a team from any brigade attending a demonstration and not taking part in the same, the Executive may refuse to allow snob, team their travelling expenses. That firemen attending the Association competitions or Conference must travel in uniform, and that the Railway Commissioners bo aiked to issue passei only to firemen in uniform. This Day. The first general meeting of the New Zealand Fire Brigades' Accident Insurance Association tdok place last night. Secretary Cummins, of Wanganui, was eleoted President, and Doputy-Superintendent Gilberd, of Napier, Secretary and Treasurer. Rules were adopted and ordered to be registered under the Friendly Sooieties Act. The society has over 300 members and J2BO in hand. The Fire Brigades' Conference resnmed this morning, when fifty brigades were represented. The report of tho Revision of Rules Committee was received, and most of the morning was taken up with tho discussion of the alterations. The Executive made a recommendation that if satisfied with the evidence tho Association shall present a certificate to young Price, messenger to the South Dunedin Brigade, who caved two brothers from death by burning. It was deoided to prosent W. F. Gamier, late of tho Napior Brigodo, with a medal to replace one lost at a fire. The Mayor of Napier, by telegraph, invited the Asiooiation to hold its Demonstration there next year, but could not be accepted in view of the resolution fixing the demonstration to be held on alternate years only, but it was hoped the invitation would be_ extended for 1894. It was dooidod to invite Brigades to suggest and vote for the place for the next annual meoting, and Exeontivo on that vote to accept one of the invitations.
