Fire Brigades' Conference. [By Telegraph.] [UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION. ]
Cheibtchuech, This Day. The thirteenth annual Conference of the United Fire Brigades' Association opened to-day, Lieut. Smith, of Christohurch, presiding. Tho balance-sheet showed that there was a balance of J8195 3s 2d to the oredit of the Association's Funds, and .£69 2s 5d to the credit of the Acoident Insurance Fund. The pnnual report showed that the receipts of the Association Fund were not sufficient to meet the exponsos, and recommended the annual subscription should be raised to 30s. It was also suggested that the competitions should for tho future be held on alternate ye-vrß. Tho report was adopted. A motion was carried at the instance of the Hawera Erigade, for the appointment of a deputation to request tho Underwriters' Association to contribute an annual sum. to the Association instead of, as at present, the separate Firo Insurance Associations making donations to tho different Brigados.
