Joseph J'lynn, charged with perjury in connection with tho looentgmnggling case at Lyttolton, was discharged^ Roman Jorgenson pleaded Guilty to lorcony, and was sontencod to four .voars. Tho prisoner has spent the last 17 years continuously in gaol. This Dat. Matthew Dane, cliargod with having oommitted assault with intent at "Leeston, was -found Guilty, and sentenced to two years. . . ,_ Dunedin. 25th November. In tho Supremo Court to-day, the liquidators bf'.the 'Victoria Quartz Alining Company '•sued "William Korr to recover calls payable 'by defendant, which calls were made betoio ' tho Company was wonnd np, and in respect of Ma sharos had been forfeited. Mr. -Justice Williams held that when a share was 'forfoitcd for non-payment of calls, that call '■was'-ifteooverable in Viotoria, but snch was "notHho case here, as section 65 recognised 'for certain purposes the continuous exist•tJXoo of a liability in rospect of the call, notwithstanding that tho sliaro had been fori'oited, suoh liability being- additional to that rocognised by section 04. Judgment was thorefore for tho liquidators, and costs on tie lowest sonlo. Sir E. Stout intimatod that dofondant would appeal.
