At tho annual meeting of the D.I.C. a dividend of 7h per cent., as against 7 per cent, last year, was deolared, also a bonus of 4 per cent, on shareholders' purchases. The Government Labour Agent has np to the present received applications from 405 men for work on the Otago Central Railway. The records of tho Benevolent Trustees show that there has been a steady increase in relief cases during the past five months. There were 442 cases lost week. Inveecabgill, This Dat. The increase of trade of the Bluff is something extraordinary. For the nine months ending 30th September, the receipts show an increase of £3300 compared with the corresponding period last year. The Harbour Board aro now effecting repairs | and extension to the wharf, which enables them to cope with the pressure of shipping, at a cost of .£6OOO, the whole amount being provided out of ordinary revenue.
