♦ The Council of the Wellington Football' Association mot last evening, Mr. A. K. Gibbesinthe chair. On the motion of Mr.. W. Simm, seconded by Mr. J*. ]>arby, thoChairman and Messrs. W. Day and Kcau. wero 'elected a committee to chooso thoteam which is to represent Wellington' against Auckland on tho 10th pwximo. An application from tho Petono Wanderers to bo admitted into tho Association was considered, and on tho motion of Mr. A. M. Henderson, seconded by Mr. D*y,. it was granted. The Chairman moved that, a lotter of condolence should be sent to Mm. T. Sibbin, widow of the player who was. killed in Auckland on Saturday. The. motion was seconded by Mr. Henderson, and carried. After transacting routino. business tho Council adjourned. A meeting of the Managing Committee of the Rugby Union was held iirtho Club Hotel last evening, Mr. J. M. King in the chair. The question of a match betwoon Wellington and Wairarapa was considered, and it. was resolved to writo that no guarantee* could be given for a match hero. It was also decided to point out to the Wairarapa. Union that it was impossible to send a team up to eithor Greytown or Masterton, as some of the best men here could not get away. A telegram was received from tho Marlborough Union, asking what gnaranteo. could be given for a match in Wellington, and it was resolved to reply that no guarantee could bo given, but if the Marlborough team could come here a match could bo arranged. It was arranged that the .PonekcMelrose heat of the Championship sbonld bo played next Saturday. Permission was given the Athletic Club to accept tho gold medals offered by their President (Mr. H. D. Boll) on account of their having won the Champion ship . It was decided that tho captains of tho teams competing for the Junior Cup should meet and appoint a. committee to select the junior representative team to play at Palmerston on the 26th. Mr. M'Cardell presented Mb report on the Southern tour, but consideration of it was deferred until ft. fuller meeting.
